Refinery Status: Valero Starts FCCU Work At McKee Refinery

Valero Energy Corp. on April 2 said previously announced planned turnaround maintenance on a key gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking unit at it’s oil refinery in McKee, Texas, got under way over the weekend. The work is expected to take about five weeks to complete.
Planned flaring scheduled for April 3-6 at BP’s Carson, Calif., refinery is the result of scheduled maintenance, a person familiar with the plant said on April 2.
BP PLC on March 30 said an Ultracracker unit at its oil refinery in Texas City, Texas, began the process of restarting, a filing to Texas environmental regulators said. It isn’t clear when the unit was taken out of service.
Sunoco Inc. reported the start up of a hydrotreater unit and a compressor malfunction at another hydrotreater unit at its Philadelphia refining complex to Philadelphia environmental regulators, a filing made public on March 30 said.
A fluid catalytic cracker main air blower instrument failed on Mar. 27, at ExxonMobil’s 345,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Beaumont, Tx. The co. expects some impact to production, according to the Texas Commission On Environmental Quality.
A Mar. 25 fire at ExxonMobil’s 60,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Billings, Montana refinery was extinguished in a couple of hours and no injuries were associated with the incident. Production wasn’t significantly affected, the co. said.
