Exxon shuts down refinery units for maintenance

December 01, 2009, 12:35PMExxon Mobil Corp. shut down several units at its Baton Rouge refinery today. The planned shutdown, called a turnaround, is done for maintenance, repairs and equipment testing. The Baton Rouge refinery, the second largest in the United States, has the capacity to process 488,600 barrels of oil per day. The plant accounts for about 5.7 percent of U.S. Gulf Coast refining capacity.
