The fire started about 7 a.m. in a heater and a diesel hydrotreater unit, Valero spokesman Bill Day said in an e-mailed statement. “The fire was quickly contained,” Day said.
Valero, the nation’s largest refiner, said no employees were injured, but a contractor was taken to a local hospital because of anxiety. Most of the plant’s units are in operation, Day said, but power remains out in some parts of the refinery. The cause of the incident is under investigation, he said
