Valero begins planned McKee refinery FCC work
HOUSTON, Sept 30, 2007 (Reuters) – Valero Energy Corp began a planned overhaul of the gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit at its 170,000 barrel per day (bpd) McKee refinery in Sunray, Texas, on Saturday, according to a notice filed with state pollution regulators.Valero had previously said the 56,000 bpd cat cracker would be shut for a planned 14-day overhaul at the end of September. During the work, gasoline output will be cut by 40,000 bpd and distillate production will be down by 10,000 bpd.The McKee refinery is running at about 160,000 bpd as it recovers from a mid-February fire that shut the refinery for two months. The refinery, located 67 miles (108 km) north of Amarillo, Texas, in the panhandle between New Mexico and Oklahoma, is scheduled to return to full production by the end of the year.
