Citgo Refinery Fires Sends One To San Antonio Burn Unit

CORPUS CHRISTI – A Citgo Refinery employee was taken to a San Antonio burn unit after a fire in the Alkylation Unit.
The fire started around 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning at the Citgo Refinery in a unit that houses hydrofluoric acid. One employee was taken to a local hospital then transferred to the a burn unit in San Antonio.
Officials aren’t releasing the extent of his injuries or his identity. His condition is also unknown at this time.
Investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the fire.
