Project launched in 2008 – to be finalized by the end of 2011 in Elefsis and near completion in Thessaloniki.
The Elefsis refinery is undergoing a full modernization aimed to increase its capacity and the yield of diesel, which is nowadays the main request of the European and local market, a company source said. The $1.1 billion investment involves a 40,000 b/d hydrocracker and a 21,000 b/d flexicoker, with the new units expected to start next year. The upgrade at the Thessaloniki refinery is nearly finalized and is to increase its capacity by 15,000 b/d.
