Three injured in El Palito accident, no force majeure – VenezuelaPublished: Monday, January 8, 2007 13:19 (GMT -0400)An accident at the fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit at Venezuelan state oil firm El Palito refinery has left three contract workers injured, the company and local media reported.
The company has not declared force majeure as El Palito mostly makes fuel for the domestic market and only sporadically sends shipments to clients abroad,” a PDVSA spokesperson told BNamericas Monday. El Palito is in Carabobo state in central Venezuela. One of the injured suffered burns to 70% of his body, radio network Unión Radio reported. The second suffered first-degree burns and the third was treated and released from the hospital. Eight workers died in 2005-06 as a result of on-the-job accidents at different PDVSA installations.

Accident at PDVSA El Palito Refinery Cat Cracker injures 3 contract workers, but no Force Majure on fuel shipments.
The article mentions the 8 workers killed at PDVSA refineries in 2005 & 2006 – PDVSA was once known for its strong safety record before losing most of its experienced workers due to differences with government.
