BP Restarts Coker Units at Ohio and Indiana Refineries After Repair

      By Robert Tuttle
           Nov. 17, 2008 (Bloomberg)
      BP Plc, Europe’s second-largest oil
company by market value, restored units to operation at
refineries in Ohio and Indiana after maintenance was completed
      , a
person familiar with the plants’ operations said.
A crude unit, coker unit and alkylation unit resumed
      operation at BP’s Toledo, Ohio
, plant last week after being shut
in September, said the person, who declined to be named. A coker
unit resumed operation last weekend at the company’s Whiting,
      Indiana, refinery,
      the person said.
The two plants, BP’s only refineries in the U.S. Midwest,
have a combined capacity to process 580,000 barrels of oil a day,
      U.S. Energy Department data show.
The restarts happen as the price of conventional gasoline
has been weakening in the Midwest market. The fuel traded at a 1
cent discount to New York Mercantile Exchange futures on Nov. 14,
according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
