BP shuts unit after fire at Toledo-area refinery
June 25, 2009 – BP PLC said it shut a crude vacuum process unit after a fire Sunday at its refinery in suburban Toledo.
The fire occurred at the south vacuum bottoms pump associated with the Oregon refinerys Crude Vac 2 process unit, the company said in a filing with the City of Toledos Division of Environmental Services. The process unit was shut down, the filing showed.
The refinery has a capacity of 160,000 barrels a day and produces gasoline, diesel, aviation fuels, propane, kerosene, and asphalt, according to the companys Web site.
