Achieving Low SOx Emissions
Jeff Oberlin, Facilitator INTERCAT
- Consider wet gas scrubber operations at a different pH level — Adjust acid level
- Water quality to scrubber
- Know the quality & specs of water used
– Look at calcium limits
– Fresh water is preferred over sour water
- What possibilities are there to re-vamp the scrubber
– Larger taller scrubbers may be necessary
– Look at Low tox retrofit
- Consider utilizing any feed handles available
- Consider utilizing any feed handles available
- Look at caustic addition limits going to the scrubber
- Look at purge rates
– Keep sediment levels at 0.4 max
- Consider utilizing a SOx reduction additive to reduce SOx to the scrubber during unusual times
– High caustic price for more economical operation
– To unload scrubber demand as needed to meet limits
