Greetings all. We are discussing the need to add either a bypass line or an additional valve on the OH vapor line to remove condensate that collects during the purge and pressure test phase before Vapor Heating. We are considering blowing this down to a closed blowdown system. The reason is that we are relying on one valve to isolate the on-line drum vapor line to the fractionator. Has anyone had issues with this? Any issues with water boiling up from the drum that they are cutting and exposing this to the cutters? We want to blow this condensate down at the same time that we remove the condensate in the drum prior to the Vapor Heat. Please advise and thank you all. hope to see you folks in Fort Mac in October. Couldn’t make the Galveston one.

We had similiar experience resulting in near misses to operators when heading up drum after cutting. We would drain between valve spools to the pit while depressuring the drum.
