Houston, 3 September, 2009 (Argus) A compressor at a coker unit tripped off line yesterday at ConocoPhillips’s 250,000 b/d Alliance refinery in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, a US Coast Guard report said.
The incident caused flaring of more than 500lb of sulfur dioxide at 11:46 a.m. EST, according to the report from the Coast Guard’s National Response Center. Coking converts heavy residual oil into lighter products.
