Feeding a coke drum. How does it fill?

how does a coke drum fill?  Does the last few hours of material filling coke drum remain on bottom of coke drum or does it travel through center of coke drum and ending up at the top of the coke drum?

The drum fills from the bottom up.  The coke in the drum, as it builds, forms channels and the new material feeding the drum travels thru these channels to the top.  As new coke is formed, at the top, new channels develop and the process continues until the drum is full.
