Flint Hills Shuts Corpus Christi Refinery Units (Update1)
      2008-05-28 10:33 (New York)

By Nidaa Bakhsh and Robert Tuttle
May 28 (Bloomberg) — Flint Hills Resources LLC, a
subsidiary of Koch Industries Inc., shut processing units at its
Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery because of a loss of steam.
The lack of steam forced “several process units and
critical equipment to be shut down,” the company said in a
filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Flaring, or release of gases into the air, from a gasoline-
producing fluid catalytic cracker, cogeneration unit and sulfur
      recovery unit began yesterday
and was expected to end at 8:40
      a.m. local time today.
Katie Stavinoha, a company spokeswoman, declined to comment
      on the report.
The refinery has a maximum oil-processing capacity of
305,000 barrels a day, according to the U.S. Energy Department.
