Texas company wins Wood River refinery construction contract

Fluor Corp. has won a contract for the $3.6 billion expansion of the Wood River refinery in Roxana, Ill., which is just north of St. Louis, Mo.
Irving-based Fluor Corp. (NYSE:FLR) was hired by WRB Refining LLC, a joint venture between ConocoPhillips and EnCana Corp., to provide construction and construction management services to expand the coker refinery, which produces motor and transportation fuels.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Fluor said it is expected that about 500 professionals will work from its offices in Calgary, Alberta; Houston; and New Delhi, India.
ConocoPhillips had previously said a large number of local workers would be employed on the project.
Fluor said Wednesday it completed the front-end engineering and design in 2007 for the expansion project, located in Roxana.
