Ahead of the announcement, shares in Reliance Petroleum ended down 2.5 percent at 219.70 rupees in a weak Mumbai market that dropped 2.3 percent. (Reporting by Devidutta Tripathy; Editing by Ranjit Gangadharan) 
 MUMBAI, Jan 15, 2008 – India’s Reliance Petroleum Ltd , which is building a 580,000 barrel per day refinery, has completed 82 percent of the work by Dec. 31,2007 the company said on Tuesday.
The company is a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd , India’s most-valuable listed firm that runs a 660,000 bpd refinery next to the new project at Jamnagar in the western state of Gujarat.
Reliance Petroleum, in which Chevron Corp owns a 5 percent stake, said in a statement it was on course to complete the project ahead of its initial schedule of December 2008.

Here is update on the Reliance Refinery & Coker expansion that is ahead of its scheduled completion by Dec 2008.
They have a good track record for bringing in projects/expansions ahead of schedule or ontime.
Reliance just completed a maintenance turnaround which included taking care of cracked drum on existing coker (currently worlds largest).
