KBR Awarded Contracts by Refineria de Cartagena (Reficar) S.A. to Upgrade Fluid Catalytic Cracking UnitMonday October 27,2008 4:05 pm ET HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–KBR today announced that it has been awarded two contracts by Refineria de Cartagena S.A. (Reficar) to provide technology licensing and related services to upgrade its Cartagena refinerys fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit. Reficar is a joint venture between Ecopetrol S. A., the national oil company of Colombia, and Glencore International AG.
KBR will provide proprietary licensed technology as well as detailed design engineering and procurement services for the project. Work on the project is expected to begin immediately.

The Cartagena Refinery is located in the industrial zone of Mamonal of the Cartagena Bay, 30 minutes to the west of the Cartagena city on the northern coast of Colombia.
