PdV upgrader work slashes syncrude output
Caracas, 1 October, 2009 (Argus) An extra-heavy crude upgrader has been shut for planned maintenance at PdV’s PetroPiar facility, reducing Venezuela’s total crude output by 150,000 b/d, company officials told Argus.
The gravity of the curtailed syncrude ranged from 16-32API. Maintenance and reduced output will last through the end of October, the officials said, adding PdV has not boosted production of heavy or light crudes in other areas of the country to offset the drop in Orinoco syncrude output.
