We are considering using Kates flow controllers on our steam purge lines to our pressure transmitters on these lines, with a flow rate such as to give us a steam velocity into the feed line of at least 6ft per sec. Does anyone have any experience of this design method and also of the reliability of the Kates controllers? We would prefer not to use fixed restriction orifices so we can limit the steam flow and minimise or erradicate water hammer.
