NEW YORK — Suncor Energy Inc.’s Edmonton refinery in Canada was struck by a power failure late yesterday and was in the process of shutting down, according to a message left on a community hotline at 8:10 p.m. local time on June 29.
The plant processes oil sands-based feedstocks, according to the company’s website. The refinery, which can process 134,900 barrels of crude a day, produces mostly gasoline and distillate fuels for markets in Western Canada.
