Do most Coker Units use skin TIs on their process piping? I would think due to “knocking” and clean out procedures an actual thermowell would pose a problem, not to mention the potential coke build up around the insert. I am currently the unit engineer with a petroleum pitch process. Whenever we take the unit down due to increased pressure drop from coke buildup through out the system, we find that our thermowells tend to be extremely good seeding points for coke buildup. I was curious what tended to be the standard in delayed cokers.
Thanks for your time and input.
