Valero energy will expand its St. Charles refinery in one of the largest growth projects in the company’s history, the company said in its latest earnings report.
The expansion — which did not include a price tag, but was pegged at $1.4 billion by the Toronto Star newspaper — will include a 50,000 barrel-per-day hydrocracker and a 45,000 barrel-per-day expansion to its crude unitsand 10,000 barrel-per-day expansion to its coker units.
The expansion’s aim is to produce more ultra-low-sulfur distillates. The San-Antonio-based company said the project should be completed in 2010.
