    Thank-you for your replies.  However, our issues occur in the 10 F range.  Closed louvers and steam coils have not always been adequate, and we have resorted to keeping a steam flow through the tubes between drum cycles.  It’s affective, but increases steam usage and generates additional sour water.

    Seems most people recommend to limit Sodium to less than 10 ppm if possible, and indicate tube fouling increases rapidly above 20 ppm in the feed.  Mechanical cleaning (pigging) is indicated to be most affective for inorganic/salt fouling.

    We are having good luck with a Godwin “self priming” style.  May not be any more reliable than the submersible/pedestal – but much easier to inspect and repair when necessary.

    We have decoked directly into specially modified railcars in the past, and experienced corrosion from the cutting water and coke in these areas.  Also have seen corrosion around the loading area.  Generally, not a whole lot of spillage leaving the facility though.
