You can also use Kero as a carrier.  We had better results when switching from any Coker stream to Kero!

Agree with the last response. In five yrs or so you should be replacing cyclones or at least doing repairs on them.  They will eventually erode with time if you run above the 24 number.

Yes and No.  If the economics are on the driver seat you don’t have a choice but blend in some of your good feed with ATB’s.  The rule of thumb is to blend around 10% to 15% of your total feed rate.  It can be done, use more catalyst, increase cat circulation and if you can, put naphtha around the ring where the feed vaporizes.  It will help to reduce the viscosity of the feed and hence contact time.  I say go for it and watch it closely.

Delta valve is better! let’s weight and easy to operate.

Try to use different additives from the Catalyst vendors.  Intercat usually is the leader in additives.  Other than than you don’t much choice than improve the quality of your feed to the unit.

I agree with the remarks from Bruce.  One more thing to pay attention to is the dry out procedure and making sure the relevant hold temperatures take place.  I have seen many times were operations get to excited on putting feed in the unit and from the start of the run the refractory can be compromise.  Also, slow the amount of catalyst circulation if you can.  If you have too much blast steam at the bottom of the Y that can be a problem too.  Try to use lift gas and back out steam, as the velocities with steam can damage the refractory.

OhmarVega has come up with some interesting things on Drum detector systems.  They seem to be doing some interesting research on this type of instruments.  Check them out.

That is correct. In our unit we have the same material that you mentioned.

Cyclone Velocities are crucial in order to minimize catalysts losses.  The licensor should be able to give a bulk part of what the velocities are.  However, this numbers are always very conservative.  If you have catalysts losses in the Regenerator there is a high chance that you cyclones are damaged.

How often is recommended to do pigging in the convection section if it is suspected that 9cr 1Mo is creeping up?  Are there any typical schedules for this operation? Maybe every 6 months or is it done based on skin TI temps?
    Thanks.
